Xenons PJS2800 Dual-Mode
Xenons PJS 2800 is an industrial digital printing machine designed for direct printing on corrugated packaging and corrugated board sheets. Its main feature is the 2-in-1 Dual-Mode technology, which combines two independent printing methods within a single machine structure. The operator can switch between operating modes through the control software, adapting the machine to the required print quality, sheet format and production volume.

Key features and technology
In Scanning Mode, the printheads are installed on a moving carriage that travels across the media along the X axis. The sheet advances step by step along the Y axis. This operating method provides precise reproduction of detailed graphics, tonal transitions, solid colour areas and fine design elements. Scanning Mode is particularly suitable for premium packaging, prototypes and short or medium production runs requiring high print quality.
In Single-Pass Mode, the printing module remains stationary while the media travels underneath it on an industrial conveyor belt. The full width of the graphic is printed during a single pass of the sheet. This solution provides high production throughput for standard shipping boxes, logistics packaging and e-commerce cartons.
The machine uses industrial Epson i3200 A-series printheads with Variable Dot Technology. A scalable configuration of 16 to 24 printheads allows the system to be adapted to the required throughput and production specification. Variable droplet sizes support both detailed image reproduction and efficient coverage of large solid colour areas.
The CMYK + white configuration enables printing on natural brown and dark kraft board. White ink can be applied as an opaque underbase beneath the colour graphic, improving colour intensity and reducing the influence of the substrate colour on the final print result.
An integrated white ink circulation system keeps the pigment moving continuously through the printhead system and main ink tanks. This solution helps reduce pigment sedimentation and supports stable nozzle performance during long production cycles.
Media transport is handled by an industrial conveyor belt with a multi-zone vacuum system. The vacuum hold-down stabilises the sheet, flattens warped corrugated board and reduces the risk of media movement during printing. The machine supports media up to 50 mm thick, while automatic laser height detection helps protect the printheads from contact with uneven sheets.
Xenons PJS 2800 also supports advanced production automation. An integrated code scanning module can identify an incoming sheet and automatically assign the correct graphic file. Variable data printing allows QR codes, serial numbers, batch markings and shipping information to be changed without stopping the production process.
Open communication protocols allow the machine to be connected to ERP and print production management systems. This can improve job scheduling, ink consumption monitoring, operating time reporting and automated production queue management.
Applications and printing capabilities
Xenons PJS 2800 is designed for packaging manufacturers, corrugated board converters, digital printing companies and production facilities handling short, medium and high-volume corrugated packaging orders.
The machine can be used to produce:
- e-commerce packaging, including shipping boxes, subscription boxes and branded cartons,
- logistics and transport packaging with information graphics, codes, symbols and numbering,
- primary and secondary packaging for industrial, retail and consumer products,
- premium packaging requiring solid colour coverage, tonal transitions and precise graphic reproduction,
- short promotional runs for campaigns, events, product launches and seasonal sales,
- packaging prototypes and test samples produced before full-scale manufacturing,
- personalised packaging containing individual text, numbers, graphics, addresses or QR codes,
- corrugated displays and POS elements,
- large corrugated sheets printed across the full working width or arranged as multiple smaller jobs side by side.
Scanning Mode is suitable for projects requiring high quality, precise colour reproduction and consistent surface coverage. It can be used for coated board, gift packaging, advertising materials and designs containing photographs or complex graphic elements.
Single-Pass Mode is designed for fast production of repeatable packaging. It enables large batches of cartons to be produced without printing plates. Graphic files can also be changed quickly between jobs, reducing downtime and supporting efficient production of multiple packaging variants.
White ink makes it possible to produce full-colour prints on brown kraft board. The white underbase improves graphic clarity, increases colour saturation and enables effects that cannot be achieved with standard CMYK printing directly onto dark or natural substrates.
Variable data printing allows every sheet to contain different information without interrupting production. The machine can print individual codes, serial numbers, batch identifiers, logistics data and recipient details. This capability is particularly useful for e-commerce packaging, logistics operations, direct shipping and personalised marketing campaigns.
The working width of up to 2800 mm supports both large-format sheets and multi-up production. Several smaller designs can be printed side by side, helping improve media utilisation, increase throughput and reduce the number of passes required to complete a production order.
